There I was quietly mooching around Noosa National Park finally enjoying the freedom of walking the coastal track with friends, after years of being locked out by virtue of my entourage of four-legged friends, when I was asked to step in and doggie sit for a friend of a friend who’s regular sitter had evaporated and desperately needed a replacement in a hurry.

 

Never one to say no…I welcomed the opportunity to spend some time with Rusty and JD, a couple of geriatric Irish Pointers, despite their age, they were keen walkers and we spent the early mornings and late afternoons bounding through the bushland, checking out creeks and waterholes.

 

It’s amazing the people you run into when you have a couple of dogs in tow!  After years chatting on the ever-changing sandbank of the doggie beach at Noosa Spit, I was welcomed back to the fold with smiles and “oh you have new dogs!”

 

It didn’t take long for word to get around that I was willing to sit at short notice and suddenly found that I was house and pet sitting more often than I was home!

 

Its been nearly 3 years since my house/pet sitting journey began, it has been a joyful experience for me.  I get to spend time with the most delightful pooches and kitty cats and have developed some beautiful friendships along the way.

 

If you are planning to travel and would like a reliable, trustworthy sitter, please do let me know, I do usually have forward bookings in place but there are always gaps and I can often juggle things to make it work.

Diana is a lovely lady who took such very good care of all our animals while we went away, she arrived early to learn the feeding schedule and the dogs took to her straight away. Diana was happy to text us up to date messages on how they were doing and included photos. The house was clean and tidy when we returned home and all the dogs and cats were happy, even the turtle.

Great to hear you will be offering you housesitting services on a more permanent basis!  Happy to provide a reference:

We travel overseas for a 2 – 3 month period each year and although we have no pets do not like to leave the house empty for so long.  When we couldn’t find friends or family who wanted to sit for us last year, we asked local friends if they could recommend anyone – several recommended Di from previous experience.

We could not have found anyone better!  She was in great demand and had already committed to some friends close by for the last week of our trip, so could not sit for the whole time, but assured us she would check on everything for us regularly.  The house hardly looked like it had been lived in when we returned – immaculate, possibly even cleaner than when we left!  We have a small pool which Di took care of in our absence.

We would not hesitate to utilise her services in the future – in fact, had booked her way in advance for this year, but then old friends wanted to escape the cold New Zealand winter, when I phoned to cancel Di said it was not a problem as she already had other people enquiring over that time!

To Whom It May Concern.

We have used Diana Pound on many occasions to house/dog sit for us while travelling. Our two little dogs (moodles) Molly 10 who needs medication and 4-year-old Toby who likes lots of activity especially the beach or going to the park with his ball simply love her as do we! It makes leaving our mooches so much easier when you know they will be so well-loved and cared for.

It is great to be able to go away knowing that you have a responsible and trustworthy person looking after your home and pets and everything will be just as you left it if not better??
